Berwick Bandits v Edinburgh Monarchs

BERWICK completed a 100 per cent home record in the Cab Direct Championship as they came from seven points down to defeat Edinburgh 53-36 at Shielfield Park.

The Bandits were 5-12 down after a series of early crashes but they fought back strongly and were ahead by Heat 8, pushing on to claim the aggregate point.

Reserve Reid Battye was in the big points at home again with 14+2 whilst Nick Morris scored 12+2, only losing his maximum in his final ride to Kye Thomson, who headed the Monarchs’ scoring with 13.

The result means Edinburgh finish fourth in the table and will face champions Poole in the play-off semi-finals.

The other semi-final will be between Glasgow and Scunthorpe, who meet in a regular league match at Ashfield on Friday which will determine finishing position and choice of legs in the semis.
