Buxton Bulls v King’s Lynn Young Stars

BUXTON are off the bottom of the WSRA National Development League table after a 51-39 win over King’s Lynn at Hi-Edge on Sunday.

The Bulls took both the victory on the day and also the aggregate point, overturning an eight-point deficit from a recent defeat in Norfolk to move above the Young Stars in the standings.

Alfie Bowtell scored 14 from five rides for the home side with guest Nathan Ablitt adding 10+2 in their best all-round display of the season, whilst Mickie Simpson impressed for the visitors with 12+1.

Buxton boss Laurence Rogers said: “It was a solid performance by all the lads this afternoon. King’s Lynn made us work hard for the victory and from Heat 10 onwards we really took hold of the meeting and pushed home for the win.

“Once we’d got the two points we battled on to secure the aggregate point also. We have  a team and bunch of lads that really want to do well for this club and I’m chuffed for them.”

Young Stars manager Jason Pipe said: “It’s a frustrating result but really we just ran out of riders. We coped for a while and were level after Heat 9 but then they just walked away with it.

“I’ve got to say though that Mickie was fantastic today. It’s the best National League meeting I’ve ever seen him have, so a big well done to him.”
