Belle Vue Aces v King’s Lynn Stars

BELLE Vue added three more points at the top of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership with a 53-37 win over King’s Lynn to take match and aggregate points.

Skipper Brady Kurtz scored a 12-point maximum as the Aces maintained their 100 per cent record in Manchester, whilst Jason Doyle (11+1) and Zach Cook (10+1) were also in double figures, and Rising Star Will Cairns impressed on his 17^th birthday with 7+2.

The Stars fared better than recent visitors to the National Speedway Stadium and had the margin down to single figures heading into the last three races, only for the Aces to add two further 5-1s.

Former Belle Vue rider Ben Cook top-scored for the visitors with 12+1 from six rides, and Jan Kvech added eight.

Aces boss Mark Lemon said: “It was more of a competitive night in some respects than our last two home meetings, the points scores were definitely closer – a couple of 5-1s for King’s Lynn made sure of that.

“But the meeting result was never really in doubt and it was another easy night in the pits for me just allowing the riders to go out there and have their programmed rides.

“Everyone chipped in along the way but a big well done to William on his birthday; he’s really stepped up and shown some maturity, and as our Rising Star he’s doing more than his job and he’s improving week in week out.”

King’s Lynn manager Rob Lyon said: “It was a better performance than we have been producing as a team – there was a slight improvement.

“This place is tough to come to, they’ve been banging the points in the last two or three meetings, so we gave a good shot at it and 16 points in that respect is not too bad – but it is still a loss.”
