Belle Vue Aces v Leicester Lions

BELLE Vue are five points clear at the top of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership after a thumping 61-29 win over Leicester at the National Speedway Stadium.

New signing Jason Doyle made a perfect debut for the Aces with a 12-point maximum from four rides, in a meeting where the Aces ran riot in the early stages.

Five 5-1s in the first seven races left the Lions facing damage limitation at best, but the home side still went through the 60-point barrier in a statement result.

Skipper Brady Kurtz scored 12+1, missing out only in Heat 13 when he finished third behind Ryan Douglas, whilst Norick Blodorn carded 10+1 and Peter Kildemand returned from injury with 9+1.

Dan Thompson scored 9+1 for the Lions, who were limited to just two race wins on the night.

Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon said: “Jason had some pretty big boots to fill coming in for Dan (Bewley), but he’s done a great job. We know he’s a stalwart of British speedway, and he’s proved it again tonight.

“But it was a team effort by all the boys, and there were some really good signs from one through to seven, which is key.

“How can you not be happy with that performance? Bringing Jason in he’s just fitted in like a glove, and it’s just all systems go, and very professional.”

Leicester manager Stewart Dickson said: “It’s very, very disappointing by Leicester’s standards in the Premiership since we came up. We’ve had our backsides well and truly scalped tonight.”
