Plymouth Gladiators v Berwick Bandits

SCOTT Nicholls delivered another vintage display at Plymouth with an 18-point maximum as the Gladiators defeated Berwick 55-35.

48-year-old Nicholls reeled off six wins out of six with the home side ending their recent losing sequence to move back into the top four of the Cab Direct Championship.

He was backed up by guest Troy Batchelor on 10+2 and reserve Anze Grmek with 9+2, whilst the Bandits weren’t helped by the withdrawal of No.1 Peter Kildemand after a crash in his second ride.

Victor Palovaara top-scored for the visitors with 11+2 from six outings.

Berwick owner Jamie Courtney said: “It was a very tough night, and would have been even if we hadn’t lost Peter early.

“On the few occasions we got out of the gate first the red lights seemed to come on. While I can’t question the efforts of the boys it was not the result we were looking for.”
