Report

KING’S Lynn Young Stars made it three wins out of three in the National Development Trophy with an impressive 53-31 result at Leicester.

Will Cairns scored a 12-point maximum for the injury-hit Fox Cubs but the Young Stars dominated otherwise, especially in the second half of the meeting when they extended their lead from eight to 22 points.

Reserve Cooper Rushen collected 12+2 from five rides for the visitors with Max Perry on 10+1 and skipper Jody Scott on 10, with the match curtailed one race early due to a water shortage which made track conditions unsafe for racing.

King’s Lynn manager Jason Pipe said: “It was definitely a team performance, and they all rode their hearts out.

“Unfortunately Leicester were a bit weakened by their injuries, although I was still a bit surprised with how many points we won by, and the reason was that from one to seven they all played their part.

“What was also really noticeable was how they all mucked in together, helping each other out in the pits, and there’s a good team spirit developing there.”

Leicester boss Jen Crossland said: “We knew it was going to be tough especially with the injuries, but the team tried their hardest.

“Thanks to our guests and every one of our riders, and obviously it was another brilliant performance from Will.”
