REDCAR pulled off a big result in the race for the Cab Direct Championship play-offs by winning 51-39 at Workington on Saturday.
It was the Bears’ second success in 24 hours, and it moved them to the very edge of the top four, just behind Oxford on points difference but with a match in hand.
The visitors led throughout at the GT Tyres Arena thanks to two early 5-1s from Charles Wright and guest Jonatan Grahn, and they moved 14 points ahead after Heat 8 to put the match out of the Comets’ reach.
Wright totalled 12+1 from five rides with Danny King also on 12, whilst the result was a major setback for the home side after their recent strong form. Jye Etheridge and Antti Vuolas both scored nine.
