Scunthorpe Scorpions v Poole Pirates

CAPTAIN Zach Cook led Poole to a third away win of the Cab Direct Championship campaign as they triumphed 50-40 at Scunthorpe.

The Pirates are nine points clear at the top of the table after the victory at the Eddie Wright Raceway where they recovered from a six-point deficit after six races to turn the meeting in their favour.

Cook’s 5-1 with Lewis Kerr in Heat 10 put the visitors ahead for the first time, and Cook also won the final two races with his success in Heat 14 clinching the victory.

The only dropped point for Cook came in his first ride against Connor Mountain as he finished with 14 points, whilst Richard Lawson picked up 11+2.

Steve Worrall scored 9+1 for the Scorpions who remain in the top four but dropped further points at home.

Cook said: “I don’t know why, but I do love riding this place and it was good to get amongst the points.

“But more importantly it was a super all-round team performance, and it feels good to come away with another good win.”
