GLASGOW remain second in the Cab Direct Championship thanks to a hard-fought 48-42 win over Redcar at Ashfield.

The Tigers were given a stern test and were heading for a nervous finale when the Bears reduced the deficit to just four points with three races remaining.

Chris Harris and Kyle Howarth recorded a key 4-2 for the home side in Heat 13 before their excellent guest Tate Zischke won Heat 14 to clinch the victory.

Harris top-scored on 16 points from six rides with Zischke impressing on 11+2 and Howarth added 11. Charles Wright scored 14 for the Bears.

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “We knew it was going to be close, and it was good to finally get it wrapped up at Heat 14.

“There was a lot to like in that performance. We were under pressure without Dan Thompson and Leon Flint.

“But our boys rode their hearts out and managed to pull off a really big win. It was a gritty performance.

“Special thanks to guest Tate Zischke who did an outstanding job for us. He gave 100 per cent in every race and possibly was the difference in the end.”
