Report

GLASGOW captain Chris Harris and Leon Flint both scored maximums in the Tigers’ 50-40 win over Edinburgh in the BSN Series at Ashfield.

Harris raced to a full 15 from five rides for the Tigers and Flint added 14+1 as the home side completed a perfect Scottish group programme of ten points out of ten.

The Monarchs were again inspired by flying reserve Victor Palovaara with 16 from seven rides, and Justin Sedgmen picked up 11+1 as they trailed by just two points with two races remaining, only for the Tigers to finish the meeting with a pair of 5-1s.

Both involved Flint, who collected maximum points with reserve Freddy Hodder in Heat 14 before teaming up with Hartis in the finale.

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “I’m delighted for Freddy. The fans went wild, he was the hero. He’s a real fighter and was excellent all night.

“I’m particularly happy that the hard work has paid off. He came up and spent all day Thursday practicing at the track to get it right.

“The lad is desperate to do well for the Tigers and that will do his belief so much good. I also have to say that Leon worked so hard with him on Thursday, helping as much as he could with set-ups. That really paid off bigtime.”

Sedgmen said: “’The track was good, but when I was hitting the front I just didn’t know where to ride.

“Obviously we won here the last time we came and that was their first meeting, they’ve had a lot of laps since then and that’s what we need, but that was probably our worst match of the year and it wasn’t a Heat 15 decider, it was a Heat 14 decider.”
