Oxford Spires v King’s Lynn Stars

KING’S Lynn raced to an emphatic 55-35 victory at Oxford to underline their superiority over the Spires in this season’s ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.

The Stars have won all six encounters between the sides this season in league and cup, and they took control at Cowley with two 5-1s in the first three races.

Richard Lawson led the scoring with 12+1 and there was another strong show from Ben Cook at reserve with 10+1, whilst captain Nicolai Klindt won three races on his way to 10.

Oxford had just four race winners, shared between Maciej Janowski (10+1) and Charles Wright (10), although Birmingham’s defeat at Perry Barr means they have avoided the wooden spoon.

Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “I don’t want to keep harping on about it but the Ben Cook injury was pretty damaging for us, and he was out for a long time.

“He’s back now and you can see that team is sold with him in it, and we’re producing some good results.

“It was a great performance tonight, and this is a happy hunting ground for us, so fair play for the boys for that.”

Janowski said: “As a team, we always want to do as well as we can for the supporters. But we didn’t have a good night tonight. I did alright in the meeting, although I know that I can do better. It was nice to be involved in a couple of 5-1s.

“We haven’t done as well as we would have liked during this season. But we have one last home meeting next week and we will do all we can do to win that for the fans.”
