KING’S Lynn were successful in a last-heat decider at Birmingham to notch their second away win of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership season.

The Stars saw an eight-point lead clawed back by the bottom club, with the visitors’ Nicolai Klindt being ruled out of his final ride as a precaution after a crash in Heat 9.

But with the scores level, Richard Lawson and guest Lewis Kerr grabbed a crucial 5-1 in Heat 14, and Lawson then defeated home duo Keynan Rew and Matej Zagar in Heat 15 to seal a 47-43 victory.

Kerr was a key figure at reserve with 14+1 whilst Lawson totalled 10+3. Rew (12) and Zagar (11) both struck double figures for the Brummies.

King’s Lynn boss Rob Lyon said: “We managed to get the right gates this time as opposed to last time there, and we started off well.

“We maintained the lead until they pegged us back a bit in mid-meeting, but we finished well and got the job done.

“We had a good guest in Lewi Kerr, who probably was the match winner in lots of ways, but it was a good team performance overall.”

Brummies manager Chris Adams said: “It was a much better performance from the team overall and with the effort the lads put in, I don’t think we deserved to lose that one.

“We didn’t start off too well again but then from Heat 5 we got going and we came on top.

“It was that Heat 14 which proved costly in the end though, and it left us with too much to do in the last one sadly.”
