SHEFFIELD cruised to an emphatic 57-33 away win at Birmingham to end a busy run of away matches in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership on a high.

The Tigers are just one point behind Ipswich at the top of the table after a dominant display at Perry Barr which started with two 5-1s in the first two races on a heavily watered track.

Sam Masters stood in for injured skipper Josh Pickering with 11 from four rides whilst deputy captain Chris Holder scored 10+2 from five, as the Tigers picked up 11 of the 15 race wins.

Tobiasz Musielak scored 11+1 from seven for the Brummies, although his night started with a retirement and ended with a penalty for touching the tapes.

Tigers boss Simon Stead said: “It’s been a rough couple of weeks really. We couldn’t really find our stride or a rhythm away from home – it’s been a bit difficult.

“We showed signs of improvement at Ipswich but to bounce back from that disappointment, losing the meeting and then the aggregate point, to respond like this shows what we’re made of.

“It puts us right back on the right foot with some important meetings coming up and we’re really looking forward to finally getting another home fixture under our belt on Thursday.”

Birmingham manager Chris Adams said: “We had four race winners all night and ten at the back, so you’re not going to be winning any meetings with those sorts of results.”
