KING’S Lynn collected a 49-40 win over Birmingham to move up to fifth place in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership table.
The Stars were never able to relax against a Brummies side inspired by former Lynn racer Tobiasz Musielak, but better all-round strength secured the home win.
Chris Harris top-scored for the hosts with 11+1 and completed the meeting with a memorable pass on Musielak on the last bend of Heat 15, whilst skipper Nicolai Klindt picked up 10+1.
Musielak racked up 17 from seven rides for the Brummies and Matej Zagar added 11, but the visitors lost Rising Star reserve Jason Edwards with a dislocated shoulder after a clash with Jan Kvech in Heat 2.
King’s Lynn manager Rob Lyon said: “It was strange meeting because when you look through the scores it was a reasonably solid performance all the way through, which is what this team is built on.
“But we still made hard work of it. Birmingham to their credit took the meeting to us, rode well and did some damage, and they got four points from rider replacement – with (Michael) Jepsen Jensen in the team, we’d have been under the cosh a bit.
“But we’ve had our problems this year as everybody knows, so I’m quite happy to take that win. It’s another one on the board and now we move on to Thursday.”
Brummies boss Chris Adams said: “We battled on but we pretty much had a three-man team in the end because Keynan (Rew) had bike issues pretty much all night and Paco (Castagna) found things tougher tonight.
“So considering all the circumstances we had to face, I think we did pretty well and we’re actually very encouraged.
“Tobi and Matej rode superbly and they’re the reason why the gap wasn’t so big.”
