Report

CHAMPIONS Belle Vue got off to a winning start at home in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership with an emphatic 57-33 victory over King’s Lynn in Manchester.

The Aces had narrowly triumphed in the reverse fixture last week but they were dominant at the National Speedway Stadium with Dan Bewley (14+1) scoring a paid maximum.

Fellow heat leaders Brady Kurtz and Jaimon Lidsey both scored 11 as the Stars were unable to land a blow, with Chris Harris suffering mechanical trouble whilst leading Heat 2. Niels-Kristian Iversen picked up 11 from six rides for the visitors.

Belle Vue manager Mark Lemon said: “I think a lot of credit goes to these guys, there’s pressure on as defending champions.

“We didn’t get off to a good start. They’ve shown a lot of resolve and determination to turn a big negative into some spirited performances.

“I was concerned coming into tonight because you look at King’s Lynn and there’s not many weak links. I knew it was going to be competitive.  “But the boys did exceptionally well. They delivered strong performances right the way through.”

Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “It was a very disappointing meeting for us, and two race wins all night sums it up.”

BELLE VUE 57: Dan Bewley 14+1, Jaimon Lidsey 11, Brady Kurtz 11, Norick Blodorn 7+2, Jake Mulford 7+1, Zach Cook 5+1, Tate Zischke 2+1.
KING’S LYNN 33: Niels-Kristian Iversen 11, Ben Cook 7+1, Richard Lawson 5+1, Jan Kvech 4+1, Chris Harris 3+1, Ashton Boughen 2, Nicolai Klindt 1+1.
