Report

BELLE Vue secured runners-up spot in the WSRA National Development League with a 55-35 home win over Sheffield on Monday.

The result, which saw the Colts pull clear in the closing stages having been held to a level scoreline across the first nine races, means they edge out Oxford on race points difference for second place overall.

Sam Hagon scored 13 points from five rides with guest Jake Mulford picking up a 12-point maximum, but top billing went to reserve Chad Wirtzfeld with a bumper haul of 16+2 from seven rides. Nathan Ablitt top scored for the Cubs with eight.

Hagon said: “It’s fantastic for us to finish the season on such a high. I’m so proud to have been a part of this team and I think after all the work we put in we deserve our silver medal.

“It’s a shame that there weren’t play-offs in the NDL because I honestly believe that, with the way we’re riding, we could’ve gone to Leicester and emulated the Aces and won the league.”
