Report

EDINBURGH are off the mark in the National Development League after a 52-37 win over Middlesbrough at Armadale.

Connor Coles scored a 15-pont maximum with Dayle Wood adding 12 and Max Perry 11+1 for the Monarchs Academy, who were without Sam McGurk due to a breakdown en route.

Jake Mulford raced to ten points for the Tigers, whose hopes of an instant comeback on Saturday were dashed when the return fixture was postponed due to the weather.

Edinburgh boss Scott Wilson said: “I’m really pleased, I thought we were excellent. I said to the boys beforehand that we really needed to come together to cover for Sam and we did that.

“Connor Coles was excellent at No. 1 with a maximum, that’s what we signed him for, and Max Perry was also superb.

“I’d mention Mason Watson also, he came here to learn to ride smaller tracks and he showed how well he is doing that.”
