Report

BRITISH Under-21 Champion Sam Hagon raced to a 15-point maximum as Belle Vue got off the mark in the WSRA National Development League.

Hagon reeled off five unbeaten rides for the Colts in their 51-39 win over Middlesbrough at the National Speedway Stadium, a result which also saw them take the aggregate point.

The Tigers could have snatched that point with a 5-1 in Heat 15 but Hagon completed his maximum with Freddy Hodder (10) adding third place for the home side, and Matt Marson was also in double figures with 10. Ben Trigger top-scored for the Tigers with nine.

Hagon said: “Although in the end it was a pretty emphatic result on our part, it was crucial we stopped them from getting the aggregate bonus point.

“We knew, myself and Freddy, going into Heat 15 that we had to stop them from getting a 5-1 and it was a bit close in the beginning, but we managed to clear off in the end.

“It’s great to get our first few league points in the bag. We’ve been so close recently to getting a win and this was a really important result for us.”
