Report

OXFORD’S Jason Garrad scored his first WSRA National Development League maximum as the Chargers completed the double over Edinburgh.

The locally born rider went through the card with 12 points from four rides in the 51-36 victory, with the home side also claiming the aggregate point.

Jody Scott (13+1) and Luke Killeen (10+1) also hit double figures for the defending champions, with Scott only denied a maximum of his own by Connor Coles in Heat 15.

Coles scored 10 for the visitors who were without Sam McGurk and operated rider replacement.

Garrad said: “I’m really happy to score a maximum in my first home meeting of the season. I should have scored more at Edinburgh on Friday, but I fell and was excluded after a good start in my third ride up there.

“It’s awesome to score a maximum for my hometown club around here – it’s where I watched speedway as a kid. I knew I could do it and now I’ve proved it.”

Edinburgh manager Scott Wilson said: “It was another tough afternoon for us but we dug in and fought hard which was what I asked for before the match.

“We kept ourselves in touching distance but unfortunately things unravelled a bit in Heats 13 and 14 which makes the scoreline look worse than I think we deserved today.”

OXFORD 51: Jody Scott 13+1, Jason Garrad 12, Luke Killeen 10+1, Ashton Vale 9+2, Jacob Clouting 4, Senna Summers 2, Wayne Hutt 1.
EDINBURGH 36: Connor Coles 10, Max Perry 8, Mason Watson 6+3, Dayle Wood 6+1, Kyran Lyden 5+1, Mark Parker 1+1, Sam McGurk r/r.
