Report

POOLE captain Ben Cook fired in his first maximum of the season to lead his side into the Cab Direct Championship play-offs with a win over Scunthorpe.

Cook scored the full 15 from five rides at Wimborne Road, with the Pirates 52-38 win ensuring they will finish in the top four and progress in the title battle.

Tom Brennan was unbeaten apart from a Heat 11 disqualification as he finished with 11+1 and Richard Lawson added 9+2 from four rides, whilst the Scorpions put up a much-improved show compared to their recent Cab Direct KO Cup defeat.

Kyle Howarth scored 11 from six rides and reserve Nathan Ablitt added an impressive 10+1 for the visitors.

Cook said: “We re-grouped mid-meeting and said we just had to go out there and show them what we can do and I’m pretty sure we did that at the end of the day. We made some starts and away we went.”
