REDCAR are into the Cab Direct Championship play-off places after a 50-40 win over Workington – with the sides set to meet again today (Saturday) in Cumbria.
The Bears achieved the result despite a stunning performance from Comets star Troy Batchelor, who racked up 18+1 from seven rides.
Batchelor was well supported by guest Jordan Jenkins with 13 but they rode without No.1 Craig Cook, and the Bears performed solidly for the win.
Danny King scored 11+1 with Charles Wright on 10, whilst reserve Jake Mulford won three races on his way to nine points.
The return fixture sees the Comets bring in Chris Harris to guest for Cook and Leon Flint in place of Tate Zischke as they look to return to the top four, with Ace Pijper again replacing the missing Claus Vissing, whilst James Pearson steps in for Connor Bailey for the Bears.
King said: “Today is another important meeting, we need another win to keep pushing for the play-offs but all the boys know what is required.
“I’m happy with how things are going at the moment, I’m hoping to keep the good run of form going as we try to make that late play-off push.”
