REDCAR gave their Cab Direct Championship campaign a massive boost with a 47-43 win at Plymouth on Tuesday.
The Bears completed successive league victories with Charles Wright in ultra-impressive form as the Bears’ No.1 racked up 17 points from six rides, including taking the win in the last-heat decider.
Wright was well backed by Jason Edwards with 11 whilst reserve Ben Trigger scored seven on his return to the Coliseum.
Alfie Bowtell scored 13+2 for the Gladiators and guest Troy Batchelor picked up 12+1, but the hosts were hampered by the withdrawal of Ben Barker with rib damage after a first ride crash.
Redcar boss Gavin Parr said: “It was tricky in the early stages for us, but the boys dug in, and we fully deserved the win.
“We kept saying that we didn’t feel we were too far away from becoming a good side, and with Dan (Gilkes) coming into the 1-7 that has given us the lift we needed.
“We are not getting carried away, but we are happy with our recent improvement.”
