Report
OXFORD and Ipswich were beaten by the weather as their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership clash at Cowley was abandoned after six heats due to rain.
The Witches appeared well placed for an away win as they led 23-13 with Emil Sayfutdinov having won his three rides, but the meeting will need to be re-run – with a new date also required for Leicester v King’s Lynn, which was postponed earlier in the day.
Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “It was the right decision by the referee to call the meeting off.
“The club did its best to put on the meeting, as we always do. The entertainment at Oxford this season has been second to none but by the end, thanks to the weather, it wasn’t racing or pretty to watch.”
Ipswich boss Ritchie Hawkins said: “Clearly, we are really disappointed with the match being abandoned. We had started superbly again, and the boys looked determined and quick and had clearly got ourselves in a position to get another victory over Oxford.”
