Report

KING’S Lynn kept up their recent improvement with an all-round team performance to defeat Oxford 50-40 in Monday’s televised ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixture.

Each of the seven Stars riders won at least one race, and there was an impressive debut from new signing Jan Kvech who took the flag twice and scored nine points.

Kvech also collected the Omologato Rider of the Night award, whilst Benjamin Basso top-scored for the hosts with 10+1.

Former Lynn rider Maciej Janowski enjoyed his best night back in UK racing with a superb 16-point haul for the Spires – but his team-mates suffered numerous mechanical issues as the aggregate point also went to the Stars.

King’s Lynn boss Rob Lyon said: “It was a great, solid performance, the same as last time against Sheffield really, and we’re getting a bit of momentum which is nice.

“We’ve got to keep that going now. We’ve got a lot of home meetings coming up, and they’re going to be important for us to make a challenge for the top four.

“I wouldn’t want to pick anyone out in particular because it was a full team performance from one to seven, but it was good to see Jan have a good debut, and also for Anders (Rowe) to get back to some early-season form around here.”

Spires manager Peter Schroeck said: “I can’t fault the boys for effort, but we had too many machinery problems and that cost us.

“That’s not taking anything away from King’s Lynn, who put in a good night’s racing.”
