Report

OXFORD charged to the top of the National Development League table with a 54-36 win over Mildenhall – their third victory in the space of five days.

The home side also took the aggregate point after a strong all-round performance led by skipper Jordan Jenkins with 14 points whilst Henry Atkins added 12+2.

Alfie Bowtell led the way for the Fen Tigers with ten, but they conceded two 5-1s and two 4-2s in the closing four races.

Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “We expected Mildenhall to push us hard, and in fairness the score might do them a little injustice as we only pulled clear in the later heats.

“They scored well across the board, but we used our strength in depth to our advantage and only ran two last places in the heats we finished.

“Jordan, Henry and Ryan (Kinsley) did the business at the top end again. But what was especially pleasing was to see Jacob (Clouting) and Jody (Scott) return with their highest scores of the season on home shale.”
