Report
POOLE moved up to third place in the Cab Direct Championship with an important 50-40 win at Berwick on Saturday.
The Pirates took control of what had been a close-fought meeting with a hat-trick of 5-1s in Heats 11 to 13, turning a two-point lead into a match-winning position.
Heat leaders Richard Lawson (12+1) and Steve Worrall (11) led the way whilst Lee Complin picked up 6+2 in a guest appearance at reserve for the injured Adam Roynon.
Rory Schlein top-scored for the Bandits on his return from injury with ten, whilst captain Leon Flint notched 10+2.
Berwick boss Kevin Little said: “We battled away against a very good Poole side but those three 5-1s were impossible to claw back.
“Poole are a very strong side, and I was pleased with the way that the team battled to stay in touch.
“While neither will be pleased with their final points tally there was plenty of promise on show from both of our new signings, while Rory and Leon were both involved in some tremendous races.”
