Report
GLASGOW demolished Birmingham 64-26 to open their Cab Direct Championship campaign with the most emphatic of wins.
No.1 Chris Harris scored a 13+2 paid maximum with big points also coming from captain Tom Brennan (13), Claus Vissing (10+1) and Benjamin Basso (9+2) in a one-sided encounter at Ashfield.
Brummies skipper Justin Sedgmen scored 10 and notched the visitors’ only race win, whilst James Wright was withdrawn as he continues to suffer shoulder trouble.
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “That was a bit more like it. It was the perfect reaction. The boys were on it from the very first race and never gave Birmingham a sniff.
“We have been strong like that all season after two off nights against Redcar and that cost us a place in the Cup semi-finals.
“That’s very frustrating but we have to put that behind us now and focus on reaching the play-offs.
“While everyone produced excellent races, I have to say Ace Pijper was outstanding again to win Heat 8 from the back like he did. For a 16-year-old kid he’s riding out of his skin.”
