Report

BERWICK boss Gary Flint pulled no punches after a 38-51 BSN Series defeat to Glasgow in their opening home match of the season.

Danish star Benjamin Basso scored a brilliant six-ride 18-point maximum for the Tigers, and No.1 Chris Harris backed him up with 11+1 as the visitors made light of the absence of skipper Tom Brennan due to International duty.

The result makes the Ashfield side strong favourites to win the Scottish group, but Flint was left far from happy with the Bandits, for whom son Leon top-scored with 10+1.

Gary Flint said: “This is a side assembled to perform strongly at home and pick up aggregate bonus points, and that hasn’t happened tonight.

“It’s not all gloom and doom as Jonas (Knudsen) had one of his best meetings for us, Connor (Coles) was again impressive, and Leon improved as the meeting progressed.

“Glasgow worked very hard and were rewarded for attacking the track and scrapping for every point.

“I’ll certainly be looking for a reaction from our riders and much better performances when we meet Edinburgh twice next weekend.”

BERWICK 38: Leon Flint 10+1, Jonas Knudsen 9+1, Rory Schlein 8, Connor Coles 5, Jye Etheridge 4+2, Thomas Jorgensen 2, Nathan Stoneman 0.
GLASGOW 51: Benjamin Basso 18, Chris Harris 11+1, Lee Complin 8, Claus Vissing 7, Marcin Nowak 6+1, Ace Pijper 1, Tom Brennan r/r.
