Report

KRZYSZTOF Kasprzak made a sensational home debut with a 15-point maximum as King’s Lynn defeated Wolverhampton 49-41 at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The Pole had been under fire for his displays in the first week of the season but hit back in style with five wins out of five for the Stars who put their first league points on the board.

Skipper Josh Pickering added 8+2 for the hosts whilst Steve Worrall scored 10 and Sam Masters 9+2 for Wolves, who were in contention until Heat 14 and still went home with the aggregate point.

King’s Lynn manager Alex Brady said: “It was a fantastic night, and for me it was a real team performance in which everyone chipped in.

“Obviously KK deserves the plaudits and rightly so he’ll get them, and I’m delighted for him especially.

“The strength in depth approach is what we wanted to do, and whilst I appreciate there’s some teams out there with some big-name riders, let’s not forget that KK was No.2 in the World not too many years ago, and performances like that shows you why.”

Wolves boss Peter Adams said: “I thought it was a good performance. We were in contention all the way – we were only four points behind with two heats to go.

“King’s Lynn are a strong team at home and with Kasprzak in that kind of form and  being in those last two races, it was always going to be difficult to claw it back.

“I don’t care who we’d have had in our team, nobody was going to stop him, he was fantastic and he was the cornerstone of their victory.”

KING’S LYNN 49: Krzysztof Kasprzak 15, Josh Pickering 8+2, Thomas Jorgensen 8, Michael Palm Toft 7, Frederik Jakobsen 6, Nicolai Klindt 4+1, Jason Edwards 1.
WOLVERHAMPTON 41: Steve Worrall 10, Sam Masters 9+2, Ryan Douglas 7, Scott Nicholls 5, Leon Flint 5, Rory Schlein 4+1, Zach Cook 1+1.
