Report

BIRMINGHAM bid to turn the tables on Plymouth when the sides meet in the Championship Jubilee League at Perry Barr on Wednesday.

The Gladiators were 57-32 winners at the Coliseum last night as the Brummies fell away in the closing stages having been only six-down at the halfway stage.

Ben Barker scored a paid maximum (14+1) for the home side with Hans Andersen totalling 14 and guest Kyle Howarth 12+2.

Tonight, Josh Pickering comes in to guest for Josh Auty at No.1 for the Brummies, whilst Paco Castagna and Jason Edwards continue as replacements for Claus Vissing (withholding services) and James Shanes (FIM Longtrack Challenge). Plymouth have Erik Riss guesting for Edward Kennett.

Birmingham boss Laurence Rogers said: “Of course we’re beyond disappointed with the final score, especially after making a decent start.

“We battled hard, particularly early on and we were still in with a shout at 27-21 with eight gone. But the 5-1 in Heat 9 and the 5-0 in Heat 10 destroyed us really.

“They then went on to finish with three 5-1s and that gave them a substantial victory – we’re just not producing at the end these past few weeks.

“There certainly wasn’t a lack of effort from the boys – we just have to move on now and try and beat them at home.”
