Report

GLASGOW have become the first club to book their place in the Championship Jubilee League Final.

The Tigers defeated Edinburgh 53-37 at Ashfield on Sunday to complete the job of ensuring the Monarchs took no points from the meeting.

With the two sides both scoring nine points in the group, Glasgow progress by virtue of having a better race-points difference.

Guest Richard Lawson (13), Benjamin Basso (12+1) and Tom Brennan (12) were all in the major points for the Tigers, whilst Josh Pickering scored 11+1 for the Monarchs.

Brennan said: “Personally I’m really gutted to miss out on that full maximum, but for the team to get this win – especially against Edinburgh – was really good.

“At home we seem to be pretty unstoppable. Everyone clicks really well. We need to try clicking now away from home and try to put those performances together away rather than just at home.”

One dampener for the Tigers was the withdrawal of skipper Ulrich Ostergaard, who could face a spell on the sidelines with a hand injury after falling in his opening ride.

GLASGOW 53: Richard Lawson 13, Benjamin Basso 12+1, Tom Brennan 12, Danyon Hume 6+2, Broc Nicol 6, Connor Bailey 4, Ulrich Ostergaard 0.
EDINBURGH 37: Josh Pickering 11+1, Ryan Douglas 8, Kye Thomson 8, Paco Castagna 3+1, Jacob Hook 3, Lasse Fredriksen 2+1, James Sarjeant 2.
