Report

REDCAR romped to their biggest-ever away win with a 62-28 thrashing of Newcastle at Brough Park.

The Bears provided all but two of the race winners at Brough Park, with six of their riders paid for double figures.

Erik Riss (11+1) scored a four-ride paid maximum, whilst reserve duo Jordan Jenkins and Jason Edwards combined for 19 (paid 21) between them).

Guest Kyle Howarth scored 11+1 for the Diamonds, who suffered a further blow when Mathew Wethers was withdrawn with an injured foot.

Bears boss Jade Mudgway said: “Congratulations to Newcastle for putting in a huge amount of work into this track which is in excellent shape now.

“They’ve worked so hard, and it shows. Our lads really took to it and gave us a night to remember at our local rivals.”

Newcastle owner Rob Grant said: “I have to apologise for that result tonight. It was totally unacceptable, but I can promise our fans that we’re on it and I’ll guarantee before the next home meeting in two weeks’ time, we will have at least one new face in the side. We’re not done with 2022, and we will make it better.”

NEWCASTLE 28: Kyle Howarth 11+1, James Wright 6, Max Clegg 6, Matthew Wethers 4, George Congreve 1, Lee Complin 0, Paul Starke r/r.
REDCAR 62: Erk Riss 11+1, Lewis Kerr 10+2, Jordan Jenkins 10+1, Kasper Andersen 10+1, Charles Wright 10, Jason Edwards 9+1, Adam Roynon 2+1.
