Report

SHEFFIELD moved to within three points of Premiership leaders Ipswich with a 50-40 home win over King’s Lynn.

Jack Holder raced to a paid maximum (14+1) for the Tigers with Tobiasz Musielak adding 9+3, and both riders passed the Stars’ Richie Worrall on the last lap of Heat 15 which prevented the visitors from taking a league point.

Josh Pickering top-scored for Lynn with 13+1 whilst Richard Lawson collected nine.

Sheffield boss Simon Stead said: “The meeting itself was a little bit tighter than we’d have liked and there’s obviously areas where we can improve.

“Credit where it’s due though, King’s Lynn pushed us hard for the majority of the meeting but we regrouped and finished really strong which was good to see.

“Heats 13 and 15, 15 in particular, was one of the best I’ve ever seen here and it was a great way to end the meeting.”

Stars manager Alex Brady said: “It’s disappointing to come away without anything to show for our efforts – but it was a brilliant effort from the boys really.

“They fought hard, they dug in and it just ran away from us a little bit at the end. I felt after Heat 14 with the 5-1 that we had that we could get a league point, but it wasn’t to be unfortunately.”

SHEFFIELD 50: Jack Holder 14+1, Tobiasz Musielak 9+3, Adam Ellis 8, Lewis Kerr 6+2, Justin Sedgmen 5, Connor Mountain 5, Kyle Howarth 3+1.
KING’S LYNN 40: Josh Pickering 13+1, Richard Lawson 9, Richie Worrall 6+2, Nicolai Klindt 5, Thomas Jorgensen 5, Leon Flint 2, Jack Smith 0.
