Report

JACK Holder bagged his first maximum of the season as Sheffield beat Peterborough 51-39 at Owlerton.

It was an identical outcome to the previous meeting between the sides in the Steel City this season, with Holder’s 12 points from four rides backed up by 12 from five for Adam Ellis and 8+3 from skipper Kyle Howarth.

Ulrich Ostergaard (10+1) and Chris Harris (10) reached double figures for the Panthers in a meeting which was delayed due to issues with the switch panel, meaning races were started on the green light.

The visitors also lost Hans Andersen with a dislocated shoulder after a fall in his second ride.

Sheffield boss Simon Stead said: ““I think it was a great team performance when you look down the scorechart.

“Everybody did a good job and it was great to see Jack firing on all cylinders – that’s a great sight to behold around here.

“Adam as well; he’s made a couple of changes with his machinery and he seems to be firing again.”

Panthers manager Rob Lyon said: “The boys put on a decent show with the problems we had I guess.

“We’re running out of riders and we’re running out of options, and it’s tough. That’s the luck you get sometimes, but it is what it is.

“The boys put up a good fight; we sort of hung on to Sheffield to try and get a point, but it wasn’t quite enough.”

SHEFFIELD 51: Jack Holder 12, Adam Ellis 12, Kyle Howarth 8+3, Tobiasz Musielak 6+3, Justin Sedgmen 5, Connor Mountain 5, Craig Cook 3+1.
PETERBOROUGH 39: Ulrich Ostergaard 10+1, Chris Harris 10, Benjamin Basso 9+2, Scott Nicholls 6+1, Hans Andersen 2, Jordan Jenkins 2, Michael Palm Toft r/r.
