VITAL WIN FOR TIGERS
GLASGOW won 46-41 at Berwick to set up a decider with local rivals Edinburgh in the Championship Jubilee League.
The Tigers had missed out at Armadale on Friday but responded at Shielfield Park despite operating rider replacement for injured No.1 Craig Cook.
Tom Brennan and Benjamin Basso, who had both ridden in the SON2 on Friday, top-scored for the visitors with 12 and 11+2 respectively, whilst Chris Harris scored 13 for the Bandits
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “Danyon Hume was fabulous tonight, he’s been riding with a lot of injuries from last night’s crash. Ulrich (Ostergaard) was also very sore after getting knocked off and there’s a little bit of doubt over his fitness for tomorrow (Sunday).
“I want to give a special mention to Broc Nicol. I’ve been speaking to him recently and he knows he’s got to ride a bit harder. He’s been working with Greg Hancock on the mental side of things too. Tonight I thought he was outstanding.”
Berwick manager Gary Flint said: “Some recent performances have left a bit to be desired, but I think tonight we genuinely battled hard as a team and have a justifiable claim to have deserved some reward for those efforts.
“When you face a side such as Glasgow you need to get the rub of the green, and I don’t think we did.”
