PREVIEW: SCUNTHORPE v EASTBOURNE (Champ)

SCUNTHORPE are back to full strength for their Championship clash with Eastbourne at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday).

The Scorpions welcome back No.1 Josh Auty who sat out last weekend’s defeat at Berwick with a knee injury.

Drew Kemp misses out for the Eagles as he heads to Gdansk for the European U19 Pairs, and the club have elected to promote Nathan Ablitt from their Seagulls side to make his senior debut.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We need to put last weekend behind us. An unscheduled heavy shower definitely had an effect on the track, and we ended up having a bad night at the office against Leicester, no question.

“This week, there really shouldn’t be any rain. It’s going to be a terrific meeting against Eastbourne.

“It’s a shortened season this year for obvious reasons so we need to crack on in the league now, starting against Eastbourne when hopefully we can add another three points to our total.”

Eagles co-promoter Trevor Geer said: “We are sure that Nathan has a great future in the sport and his Championship debut is another step on that road.

“His progression is another huge tick in the box for the development and young rider programme instigated by the new Club directors on their arrival in 2019; to follow on from four excellent years in the NDL under Martin and Connor Dugard.”

SCUNTHORPE: Josh Auty, Simon Lambert, Theo Pijper, Tero Aarnio, Thomas Jorgensen, Josh Macdonald, Jordan Palin.
EASTBOURNE: Edward Kennett, Tom Brennan, Kyle Newman, Lewis Kerr, Richard Lawson, Jason Edwards, Nathan Ablitt.
