PREVIEW: REDCAR v SCUNTHORPE (CJL)

SCUNTHORPE have announced the signing of Anders Rowe ahead of tonight’s (Friday) Championship Jubilee League trip to Redcar.

Rowe, who rode for Leicester earlier in the season, replaces Zaine Kennedy who is on the sidelines after a horror crash at the Eddie Wright Raceway last week.

The Scorpions will qualify for the Final if they avoid defeat at the Ecco Arena, but would also make it if they take a point from the meeting and another at Leicester on Saturday.

The visitors operate rider replacement for the injured Jake Allen, whilst Redcar bring in Danny King as a guest for Erik Riss.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “This is the first of two vital matches we have at Redcar this month – there’s also a league match in three weeks’ time.

“Redcar cannot reach the Jubilee League final, it’s between us and Leicester, but Redcar won’t want us to leave their place with a victory, while we would like to pick up the result that will get us to the Final without it all going down to our final match at Leicester on Saturday night.

“I’d like to welcome Anders Rowe to the Scorpions. It’s better having your own riders than relying on guests whenever possible. Anders rides Redcar very well – he’s also very good around the Eddie Wright Raceway, since he won the National League Riders’ Championship at our track in 2019.”

Redcar co-promoter Jamie Swales said: “It’s really important that we go out there and remind Scunthorpe what they will be up against when they visit in the league. Although we are out of the Jubilee League, Scunthorpe visit us in the league later this month in a vital clash in the race for the play-offs and we can remind them about our capabilities around the ECCO Arena.”

REDCAR: Charles Wright, Jason Edwards, Danny King, Kasper Andersen, Lewis Kerr, Kyle Bickley, Jordan Jenkins.
SCUNTHORPE: Ryan Douglas, Simon Lambert, James Wright, Jake Allen, Tero Aarnio, Adam Roynon, Anders Rowe.
