PREVIEW: REDCAR v SCUNTHORPE (Champ)

REDCAR host Scunthorpe at the Ecco Arena tonight (Friday) in a huge meeting in the race for the Championship play-offs.

The Scorpions currently hold sixth place and an away win will resolve the issue in their favour – but if Redcar take the points, matters continue into their closing fixtures with both teams then having one away match to come.

Scunthorpe have been hit by the double loss of Ryan Douglas and Tero Aarnio, who were both injured on Wednesday, with Richard Lawson coming in to guest.

Douglas is expected to be out for around a week after his CLRC crash, whilst Aarnio suffered internal injuries in a crash in Sweden.

Redcar co-promoter Jamie Swales said: “I do not fear Scunthorpe at home, it is still in our hands and Scunthorpe are not Glasgow.

“I’m full of confidence, we will do what’s needed on our part and then hope Berwick can do us a favour!”

Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We lost Ryan and Tero within minutes of each other. It means our backs are against the wall, but that reminds me of 2012, when we went to Edinburgh with riders missing and got the result that got us into the play-off Final.

“I notice Redcar have already written off our chances of beating them on their website, but that just makes us all the more determined to go up there and get the result we need.

“We’re not going down without a fight, although I don’t think we’re going down at all – I believe we will win.”

REDCAR: Charles Wright, Jason Edwards, Steve Worrall, Kasper Andersen, Lewis Kerr, Kyle Newman, Jordan Jenkins.
SCUNTHORPE: Richard Lawson, Simon Lambert, James Wright, Jake Allen, Tero Aarnio R/R, Adam Roynon, Anders Rowe.
