PREVIEW: POOLE v GLASGOW (Champ)

POOLE and Glasgow clash in a meeting which could have huge implications in the race for Championship semi-final places at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).

The clubs met in last season’s Grand Final and are in the thick of the battle again with the Tigers still able to finish top if they keep winning.

They have 34 points with four matches remaining, whilst the Pirates are on 30 and although they cannot catch leaders Leicester, three home wins could be enough to secure automatic semi-final progress.

The meeting also features the return to Dorset of Benjamin Basso and Danyon Hume who were both part of the Pirates’ victorious squad last year.

Poole co-promoter Danny Ford said: “Wednesday is like a one-off Final for us, and hopefully we can have the benefit of plenty of support and encouragement from the terraces.

“Our lads know what is expected of them and, to a man, they are determined to deliver. They have no desire to make things easy for Glasgow.

“I believe that we have put together a class team this year and they are certainly ready to prove themselves against Glasgow.

“I know that (Tigers boss) Cami Brown was at Edinburgh on Friday, obviously checking us out, but my message for Cami is that there is more to come from our lads. We are up for this.”

POOLE: Steve Worrall, Drew Kemp, Danny King, Zach Cook, Richard Lawson, Ben Cook, Nathan Ablitt.
GLASGOW: Craig Cook, Danyon Hume, Ulrich Ostergaard, Benjamin Basso, Tom Brennan, Broc Nicol, Connor Bailey.
