PREVIEW: NEWCASTLE v KENT (Champ)

NEWCASTLE boss Steve Pate wants to keep the Diamonds’ feel-good factor going when they host Kent at Brough Park today (Sunday).

Pate’s side stunned high-flying Glasgow last weekend and now take on a Kings side fresh from their own surprise result when they drew at Edinburgh on Friday.

Ricky Wells replaces the injured Matthew Wethers for the hosts whilst both sides make changes at reserve due to the British U19 Final and World Longtrack Challenge.

Alfie Bowtell comes in for Archie Freeman for the Diamonds whilst the Kings track Tom Woolley and Jack Thomas in place of Jake Mulford and Dan Gilkes.

Pate said: “Our win took the sport by surprise last week, and Glasgow went home in a state of shock, and that’s the energy we bring to the Newcastle Stadium on Sunday when we fully intend to take all points available to us.

“It will be another excellent meeting and we can’t wait to welcome the seven-times British Champion, Scott Nicholls, to our shale.”

NEWCASTLE: Ben Barker, Connor Mountain, James Wright, Max Clegg, Ricky Wells, Alfie Bowtell, Adam Roynon.
KENT: Troy Batchelor, Ben Morley, Paul Starke, Cameron Heeps, Scott Nicholls, Tom Woolley, Jack Thomas.
