PREVIEW: BIRMINGHAM v LEICESTER (Champ)

BIRMINGHAM host play-off chasing Leicester in a Midlands derby in the Championship at Perry Barr tonight (Wednesday).

The Lions go into the meeting sixth in the table, but a third away win of the season could see them climb into the top three.

Meanwhile the Brummies are looking to build on last week’s narrow home win over Kent which also saw them welcome a much higher attendance.

Team boss Laurence Rogers said: “There were many newcomers and the response was they really enjoyed it, and hopefully they are back with us tonight and maybe a few more too.

“Some faces who had been missing as well were back, so fingers crossed we can see things progress.

“Leicester are strong, we know that, so our boys will need to be on form. Stewart Dickson is a good manager and we thank Leicester for agreeing to come at short notice. We also thank Edinburgh for putting back our Cup tie and apologies to any Monarchs fans who had made plans to be with us.”

Dickson said: “It’s definitely an away meeting that we’re looking to win, and I do feel that after the five matches we have scheduled for this month we will have a clear indication of where we are likely to be.

“We’re going there for a win, all four points would be great but a win is most important, and that would set us up well for a big home meeting against Eastbourne on Saturday.”

BIRMINGHAM: Erik Riss, Valentin Grobauer, James Shanes, Ashley Morris, Chris Harris, Paco Castagna, Jack Thomas.
LEICESTER: Hans Andersen, Dan Thompson, Ryan Douglas, Kyle Howarth, Nick Morris, Joe Thompson, Zaine Kennedy.
