PREVIEW: BIRMINGHAM v EDINBURGH (Champ)

BIRMINGHAM head towards last chance saloon in their play-off bid when they host Edinburgh at Perry Barr tonight (Wednesday).

The Brummies need eleven points from their last four matches to break into the top six, which realistically means they cannot afford a home defeat – whilst the Monarchs require one more point to mathematically confirm their position.

The home side operate rider replacement for James Shanes due to a wrist injury suffered at the weekend, whilst the visitors also have r/r for Anders Rowe (knee) and bring in Tom Woolley for the retired Nathan Greaves.

Birmingham promoter David Mason said: “Last Wednesday was a bit of a dent, but we are far from giving up on the play-offs and the boys will give it everything they’ve got over these final few meetings of the regular season.

“Edinburgh picking up four points at the weekend wasn’t ideal – all that does do is ramp things up here tonight.

“It’s in our hands – we know 11 points from these final four league meetings will see us pip Scunthorpe and while that is a big ask, we all know this group of boys will give it 110 per cent.”

BIRMINGHAM: Chris Harris, Valentin Grobauer, James Shanes R/R, Ashley Morris, Erik Riss, Paco Castagna, Jack Thomas.
EDINBURGH: Sam Masters, Anders Rowe R/R, Kye Thomson, Josh Pickering, Richie Worrall, Drew Kemp, Tom Woolley.
