PREVIEW: BERWICK v BIRMINGHAM (Champ)

BIRMINGHAM have booked Scott Nicholls and Broc Nicol to stand in as they head to Berwick for their Championship opener tonight (Saturday).

The Brummies are without Erik Riss and Valentin Grobauer due to continental commitments, with the SEC Challenge meeting taking place in Pardubice today, whilst the Bandits operate rider-replacement for Coty Garcia who is stuck in Argentina due to national lockdown.

Birmingham boss Laurence Rogers said: “When we knew Erik and Valentin were going to be unavailable for Saturday, we did request a switch of dates – but Berwick insisted everything went ahead as normal.

“In Scott and Broc we’ve been fortunate to bring in two strong replacements. We know what both of those riders are capable of at Championship level and I’m sure they’ll come in and do a job.

“I obviously wanted an away win anyway – but now I really do want all four points, trust me!”

BERWICK: Aaron Summers, Cory Garcia r/r, Jye Etheridge, Dany Gappmaier, Nikolaj B Jakobsen, Kyle Bickley, Leon Flint, Danny Phillips (no.8).
BIRMINGHAM: Chris Harris, Broc Nicol, James Shanes, Ashley Morris, Scott Nicholls, Paco Castagna, Jack Thomas.
