PIRATES OPENER CONFIRMED

POOLE have received the go-ahead to launch their home season next month with restricted stadium capacity.

The Pirates’ KO Cup clash with Plymouth has been further delayed and the club will now open against Berwick in the Championship on June 9, where they will be limited to 30% of the normal maximum.

Owner Matt Ford said: “I cannot say it’s been easy, in fact that’s an understatement, but it’s now all systems go for Wednesday June 9 when we will get to see the team ride its first home fixture in 21 months.

“I would like to go on record in thanking George Edwards of Gaming International our landlords, along with Drew Mellor, Head of the BCP Council, and Mohan Iyengar, Head of Tourism for the borough, in collectively driving this forward.

“I know how concerned our supporters have been, and we thank you for your patience whilst extensive talks have taken place.

“Of course, we collectively are still under certain restrictions due to the virus, which will have an impact on our crowd for June 9. Tickets will be available shortly.”
