NARROW LEAD FOR CHEETAHS

OXFORD will take a four-point KO Cup advantage to Redcar after being held to a 47-43 victory at Cowley in Wednesday’s first leg.

The Cheetahs roared into a 17-7 lead after four races, but the Bears fought back strongly and a last-heat 5-1 from Charles Wright and Erik Riss brought the scores back close ahead of the return.

Dan Gilkes proved an inspired guest for Oxford with 12+1 whilst skipper Scott Nicholls scored 11. Riss (11+1) and Wright (11) led the way for the visitors.
