IT NEVER RAINS, BUT…
GLASGOW co-promoter Alan Dick believes the club will break new ground in next week’s delayed Championship Grand Final.
The Tigers are due to host Poole on Tuesday – scheduled to be the first dry day in ten at Ashfield – meaning racing will take place in Scotland in November, with the meeting having already suffered two postponements.
Dick said: “I honestly can’t recall one in November, but it’s maybe one for Scottish speedway historian, Jim Henry, to answer.
“Perhaps the novelty value of competitive racing in November will bring out some extra fans.
“Also, with the COP26 UN Global Climate Change summit going ahead in the city, bringing in 10,000 visitors for the next fortnight, we would welcome anyone who might want some thrilling entertainment at the end of a busy day on Tuesday.
“It goes without saying we are indebted to the SCB for granting this extension in exceptional circumstances. It has been an agonising wait for us, but hopefully Monday into Tuesday will finally see the rain relent and we can proceed with the first leg. Fingers crossed!”
