EASTER SATURDAY REVIEW

LEICESTER edged out league champions Poole 48-42 in a last-heat decider at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena on Saturday.

The meeting boiled to a dramatic finale when Richie Worrall and Pirates skipper Danny King clashed on the second lap, and with King excluded Worrall and Kyle Howarth (13+1) took a 5-1 in the re-run.

Meanwhile Berwick put in a powerful home display to beat Edinburgh 56-34 and avenge a ten-point defeat at Armadale 24 hours earlier.

Ricky Wells top-scored for the Bandits with 12+2 whilst reserve Jye Etheridge (12+1) was unbeaten until his final ride.

That was followed by a comprehensive victory for Berwick’s NDL team as the Bullets defeated their Armadale counterparts 56-28.

Kyle Bickley scored a 12-point maximum and youngster Ace Pijper (10+1) impressed at reserve again with three wins. The match was curtailed with one race remaining after a crash for George Rothery in Heat 14 as curfew time approached.
