DRAMATIC WIN FOR EAGLES

EASTBOURNE pulled off a remarkable comeback to edge out leaders Glasgow 47-43 in a Championship thriller at Arlington.

The Eagles trailed by eight points after Heat 11 but secured three 5-1s in four races as the match built up to a sensational climax.

Tom Brennan and Drew Kemp levelled the scores in Heat 14, and Brennan and Richard Lawson then got the better of Ulrich Ostergaard and Craig Cook in the decider.

Lawson (13+3) and Brennan (11+1) were the Eagles’ top scorers, whilst Ostergaard scored 11 for the Tigers who went home with a league point.

Said Lawson: “We didn’t drop our heads and we re-grouped. It is nice when it goes to the wire and you pull it off.

“The pressure is not always ideal, but we have come through a good meeting. We are a good side and everyone has a good set-up, and we should be winning by a bit more.”

Tigers boss Cami Brown said: “The result is hurting a little, but I am very pleased with the overall effort the guys put in. They did not give up and gave it their all.

“Not many teams will get a point there and we had 10 heat winners, which shows the quality we have in the side.”
