DESPAIR FOR PIRATES

POOLE promoter Matt Ford has described the postponement of Wednesday’s home clash with Redcar as a devastating blow for the club.

Caretaker stadium manager Dave Phoebe has tested positive for Covid-19 meaning the other two full-time employees responsible for activity at Wimborne Road have to self-isolate, with no speedway action this week possible as a result.

Ford said: “We are absolutely devastated that with the school holidays upon us we are not permitted to allow entrance to the stadium without the landlord’s permission.

“We can’t believe how much we regret the situation that has presented itself to us. We have already lost thousands of pounds this season as an aspect of Covid-19 restrictions, and we now encounter this latest problem which is beyond our control.

“We can only apologise to everyone who was looking forward to enjoying the evening’s entertainment this week and a full refund will be made to anyone who has pre-booked tickets, within the next three to five working days.”
