BIG RESPONSE FOR BRUMMIES
BIRMINGHAM bosses have been blown away by the overwhelming response from supporters following their major setback earlier this week.
Perry Barr Stadium was broken into for a third time in the early hours of Monday morning with roughly £20,000 worth of damage caused after items of essential equipment were either set alight or stolen.
A GoFundMe page was set up on Tuesday to help raise vital funds with the new season fast approaching – and the total is already approaching £6,000, including £500 from former club owner Tony Mole.
Co-promoter Peter Mason said: “I couldn’t believe it when we opened the page and saw how much had already been raised on Wednesday evening.
“The response from supporters has been quite overwhelming, to be honest. Not just the terrific Birmingham faithful either – we’ve had donations from supporters across the UK, and we can’t thank them enough.
“These people probably don’t realise just how important their donations are – no matter how little or large the amount, every single pound will prove crucial further down the line.”
